About Rami Beracha

An Israeli venture capitalist, Rami Beracha, is a general partner at Eden Block, a London-based global investment firm focused on foundational infrastructure for the new Open Internet.

Beracha’s Distinctive Military Service

Born in Tel Aviv in 1961, Beracha enlisted in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in 1980 and served in the Paratroopers Brigade, Battalion 890. During the first war with Lebanon, Beracha fought in the eastern sector as part of an infantry cadet battalion. After the war, he completed his combat officers’ course with the highest distinction – first among 250 special forces cadets – and returned to his unit as a platoon commander in August 1982.

Injured in Combat

In 1983, while his unit was stationed in the Ein Zhalta area in the Shouf Mountains of Lebanon, he was involved in an operational mission under the command of Battalion 890 commander, Bogie Ya’alon. During the operation, a force led by a Second Lieutenant entered a wild minefield, and three soldiers were wounded by mines they stepped on. Beracha was sent as a rescue force, and during the operation, Beracha stepped on a mine planted inside a terrace. Beracha lost his right hand and left foot, and was seriously injured in his left hand.

After a lengthy rehabilitation period, Beracha returned to military reserve service in an elite unit and continues to serve actively in the reserves to this day.

During the recent war, which is still taking place, Rami Beracha was on active reserve duty for 450 days in the elite 98 Brigade.

Beracha’s Professional Career

Beracha began his career as an attorney at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, a leading Wall Street law firm, where he worked for four years and focused on restructuring and securities.

He later served as managing partner at the Pitango Venture Capital Fund for 18 years. Pitango is Israel’s largest venture capital firm with over $2.5 billion under management, 90 M&As, and 25 IPOs. In his role, Beracha focused on deep-tech Web 2 investments and served as a board member in several start-up companies, including Anobit (acquired by Apple), Leaba (acquired by Cisco), Dune (acquired by Marvel), Gteko (acquired by Microsoft), Convergin (acquired by Oracle), dbMotion (acquired by Allscripts), Neebula (acquired by ServiceNow), Oolo (acquired by AppsFlyer), and Ubimo (acquired by Quotient Technology).

He was nominated several times as one of the top five venture capital partners in Israel, and has over 20 exits under his belt. In 2011, Beracha was awarded the title of “Most Respected Partner” in the annual “Globes” survey among entrepreneurs and managers of Israeli startups.

General Partner, Eden Block

In 2018, Rami Beracha joined Eden Block, a global venture capital fund dedicated to advancing blockchain technologies and the decentralized digital economy. His extensive experience—guiding startups from early funding through growth, market strategy, and ultimately to successful exits—has been invaluable to Eden Block and its portfolio companies. Beracha brings expertise in product development, team building, go-to-market strategies, business modeling, and M&A negotiations, helping founders navigate every stage of the startup journey.

Beracha is also a co-founder of SOSA TLV, an open innovation company.

Beracha’s Passion for Extreme Sports Activity

Before his injury, Beracha was a dedicated athlete and competitive tennis player, participating in the national league with Maccabi Tel Aviv’s tennis club. His passion for sports did not fade after his injury; it became a testament to his extraordinary tenacity, discipline, and heart. Refusing to let physical challenges define him, Beracha continued to play tennis and embraced a range of extreme sports, including mountain biking, snowboarding, and especially kitesurfing—a pursuit that demands physical and mental resilience. He also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro’s summit, showcasing his relentless spirit and determination to push boundaries. Today, Beracha is an expert kitesurfer and is believed to be one of the very few in the world to master the sport despite the loss of two limbs—a powerful symbol of his unwavering commitment to overcoming obstacles.

His Volunteer Work

Beracha is a board member of the Friends of IDF Disabled Veterans Association, an organization committed to championing the soldiers of the IDF and caring for their needs. It provides critical support for the health, well-being, and education of Israel’s protectors. This includes PTSD and mental health solutions, financial support, education programs, and more.

He is also a volunteer speaker to groups of military officers, entrepreneurs, injured soldiers, and students, sharing his insights and experience on resilience and decision-making in challenging situations.

Beracha regularly visits injured soldiers, showing them anything is possible, despite their injuries. He is a business mentor to veterans and a philanthropist to low-income families.

Beracha’s Education

Beracha has his JD in Law from Tel Aviv University, graduating in 1989. He received his LLM in 1992 in Banking and Financing from Fordham University, New York. He also has an MBA from INSEAD in France.
